Reviews per country or per device language?For iOS apps, the reviews are classified per country. The reviews are both grouped for iPhone and iPad.
For Android apps, the reviews are classified per device language. You will therefore get the same reviews if you're fetching data from two countries where the same language is available (for example English in the US or English in the UK).
App Reviews Displayed
Returns app reviews as they are displayed in the mobile app stores. You need to select the sort type (Most Helpful, Most Positive, Most Critical, or Most Recent) by which reviews are displayed. The "Most Critical" sorting criteria is only available for IOS devices, as it's not supported by Google Play Store anymore. The App Store and Google Play class by default the application's reviews by the Most Useful.

When should I fetch my data?AppTweak starts fetching app reviews around 3am CET every day for your followed apps. The fetching finishes at 3pm CET for iOS the same day and around 1am CET for Android the next day.

How do I fetch all reviews for an app on the App Store or Google Play via API, not just the ones shown in the store?
You can retrieve the complete set of review entries, not only what the store UI displays, with the App Reviews Search endpoint (GET /apps/reviews/search.json). Pass one or more app IDs (up to 5) in apps, then narrow by country, device, start_date and end_date, minimum and maximum rating, or a term to match inside the review body. This differs from the App Reviews Displayed endpoint, which mirrors only the reviews the store surfaces under a chosen sort order.
Can I pull only the reviews an app has replied to, or only the ones still needing a response?
Yes — the App Reviews Search endpoint accepts a replied parameter set to true, false, or left as its default nil (all reviews), so a query can isolate exactly the unanswered reviews a support or App Reviews Manager workflow needs to act on. Combine replied=false with country, device, and a date range to build a queue of open reviews. Developer replies themselves appear in the response as a response object (date and body) on Android reviews.
How do I retrieve app store rating trends over time via API instead of just the current average?
The App Reviews Stats endpoint returns a day-by-day breakdown, not just a single current average. Its daily array holds one entry per date with total review count, average rating, and a count object breaking that day's ratings down by star value (1 through 5); an aggregate object gives the same three figures across the full start_date–end_date range requested. This lets a rating trend be plotted day over day rather than read as one static number.
What review fields does an app reviews API return, and does it include sentiment analysis?
The AppTweak App Reviews Search and App Reviews Displayed endpoints return the raw review record, not a sentiment score: rating (1-5), title, body, body_length, date, is_edited, and vote data (vote_count, vote_sum) on iOS, plus author details. Android reviews add language, version, and the developer's own response if one was posted. No field classifies review text as positive, negative, or neutral — sentiment would need to be derived from the returned rating and body text in a separate step.
What parameters control which reviews are returned when fetching app reviews as they appear in the store?
The App Reviews Displayed endpoint requires two parameters: apps (up to 5 app IDs) and sort, which accepts most_useful, most_recent, most_positive, or most_critical — the last one only available for iOS, since Google Play no longer supports that sort order. Optional parameters narrow the result further: country and language (both default to us), device (iphone, ipad, or android), and limit/offset for pagination, with a maximum limit of 500 per call.
Why do the App Reviews endpoints return no data, or stale data, for an app I'm querying?
AppTweak only collects reviews daily for apps that are tracked — an app not yet followed through the API or the platform won't have fresh review data to return. Add the app with the Tracked Applications endpoint (POST via Tracked Applications - Create) so AppTweak starts fetching its reviews on a daily basis; the same requirement applies to the App Reviews Displayed, Search, and Stats endpoints alike. Once an app is tracked, review data accumulates going forward rather than backfilling history from before it was added.
